Young Jeezy’s Security Beats NYC Gun Charges; ‘Hip-Hop Police’ Unit Name Revealed

The “Hip-Hop Police” were scrutinized this morning during a court hearing involving security for internationally known rap star Young Jeezy.

Jeezy’s head of security, Stephen Helin, was in court today (September 21th), over an incident after a concert featuring rapper Jay-Z at Madison Square Garden in March of 2010.

Stephen Helin and several other members of Young Jeezy’s security detail were arrested after the concert on March 3rd, 2010, around 5:00AM, with at least five guns.

Each defendant was facing a mandatory minimum of 3.5 years, under New York’s strict anti-gun laws, which have resulted in jail time for celebrities like Lil Wayne, Ja Rule, Prodigy, Plaxico Burress and others.

According to Stephen Helin’s lawyer Scott Leemon ESQ., the specific facts of the case forced the New York County D.A.’s office to reduce the felony gun charges to misdemeanors.

“Today, right before the scheduled Suppression Hearing in New York County Supreme Court, the New York County DA’s office, because of the specific facts of this case, offered the defendants an opportunity to plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree with a promised sentence of a Conditional Discharge (requires no probation supervision) and a $1000 fine,” Scott Leemon ESQ., told AllHipHop.com.

Each man was licensed and had a permit to carry their guns, but only in the state of Georgia. At the time of their arrest, the guns were found in locked boxes, not on any one person.

Leemon said that prosecutors decided to reduce the gun charges to misdemeanors, due to thequestionable tactics by the “Hip-Hop Police,” which AllHipHop.com has learned is now officially known as “Enterprise Operation Unit.”

“They were facing a mandatory minimum sentence of 3.5 years in State Prison if convicted of any of the charges in the indictment before the plea,” Scott Leemon ESQ. told AllHipHop.com. “The defendants accepted the People’s offer and the hearing never went forward. Justice Charles Solomon accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for November 29, 2011.”

The police allegedly did not want to jeopardize any ongoing investigations, although more specifics about who is being targeted was not available.

Leemon said that during today’s hearing, his plan was to expose the “Hip-Hop Police” and whether or not Young Jeezy’s security detail’s Constitutional rights had been violated.

Prosecutors decided to drastically reduce the charges, resulting in the cancellation of the hearing.

“The hearing was scheduled to focus on the methods and means used by the Hip Hop Police (a/k/a “Enterprise Operation Unit”) in the arrest of the defendants in this case; and, specifically whether the stop of the van and seizure of evidence was legal under the law in the State of New York,” Scott Leemon told AllHipHop.com.

Young Jeezy was not available for comment as of press time. -KING-

Lil Boosie Reaches Out To ‘Beyond Scared Straight’ To Help Teen

Incarcerated rapper Lil’ Boosie has reached out to a young man featured on A&E’s TV series “Beyond Scared Straight”, who said he was influenced by the rapper. The boy, who hails from Charlotte, North Carolina, was taken to the Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, during a scene that was featured during the opening episode of the second season of “Beyond Scared Straight,” which premiered in August.

When the teen was approached by several guards who asked why he was continuously in and out of trouble, the boy replied that he was influenced by his favorite rapper, Lil Boosie.

The teen’s reply drew outrage from the guards, but Lil Boosie himself found no humor in the situation and decided to take action.

The rapper, who is incarcerated in Angola State Prison and facing the death penalty over a first-degree murder charge, decided to write a letter to Alex.

Lil Boosie’s first cousin “AKA Donkey” read a letter that the incarcerated rapper wrote to Alex and other fans who view him as a role model.

“Alex I was told that you said you were smoking and misbehaving because I smoke,” Lil Boosie wrote to the teen. “Well you can be better than me. You don’t want a marijuana addiction because it leads to trouble as you can see. Look at me I’ve been imprisoned 2 years for smoking marijuana. Was it worth it? Hell no. When you are imprisoned your away from everything that you love and that’s a hurting feeling.”

Lil Boosie explained that most of his friends were dead or in jail. He also warned Alex to choose his friends wisely. “Look at your role model. I’m facing the death penalty because my friends lied on me,” Lil Boosie said. “I was told you have a mother and father who are trying their best to help you. That’s a blessing because most kids who are on the path that you are on don’t have that.”

According to Alex’s mother, since her son has spoken to Boosie’s cousin Donkey and read the letter himself, he has been staying out of trouble.

She also said that Alex seems more positive and goal oriented.

The outreach to Alex was initiated by the “U Hatin’?” Universitie’s “Truth Campaign,” where rap artists explain the difference between the messages in their music, and the messages they deliver to their own children. -KING-

Black Mafia Family’s Bleu Davinci Released From Jail

Rapper Bleu Davinci has been released from prison.

The rapper was serving a four year sentence for involvement in the drug dealing organization/Hip Hop production company, Black Mafia Family. A player in BMF, slinging vast amounts of cocaine, Davinci (born Barima McKnight), was also the group’s main hip hop artist. He reputedly raked in around $270,000 during his drug dealing stint.

Bleu’s release from jail sees him getting busy in the studio. He has already recorded a track with Maybach Dice of Maybach Music Group. The collaboration couldn’t be more fitting, given MMG’s CEO Rick Ross’ success with B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast), a tribute to Black Mafia boss Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory.

“I’ve recorded like 50 or 60 records since I’ve been home,” Bleu said in an interview with AllHipHop.com, “I just officially got home on Friday, shooting a bunch of videos and virals…got alot going on right now.”

He went on to speak about the BMF-MMG collaboration track Feds On Me.

“The record is talking about the Feds is on me, a nervous motherfucker,” he said. “Basically, that’s what the records about, being nervous. From what’s happened in past situations and that everything you doing, the people are watching you.”

Bleu’s arrest in 2008 looked like it could put the breaks on his rap career, but this recent collaboration seems to suggest otherwise. -KING-

Remember when you could go to the Kappa Beach Party in Galveston and just dap-up Paul Wall and Slim Thug? Remember when they had

no body guards...no guest appearances from Pharrell or Lil Wayne...and they were getting dissed by the same stuck-up girl

that just dissed you and your homies?

Remember when you could give a CD to a DJ at 979, and he'd play it just because it jammed? Now, the only way you can get a

song played is if you have a deal, or you have thousands of dollars (see "payola" aka illegal).

With giant radio conglomerates taking over, and successful Houston rappers not helping spotlight the up-and-coming music

scene, we're losing it.

I remember groups like Beltway 8. No major deal, but you knew who they were and you knew a few of their songs. Same way

that the S.U.C. and Swisha House started out. But who can you name now that's getting radio play and you know their songs,

like we did with the other groups just a few years ago?

Ever since Southwest Wholesale went out of business, independent (aka TRUE) Houston music has been on the decline.

There was a time when all one had to do was get some money, press up CDs and get them in stores in "Tha H," but now,

it's nearly impossible.

I'm longing for the days of yesterday when the clubs ONLY played Houston music, and artists like Jay-Z, Young Jeezy,

and 50 Cent were only played when you needed to get a rest or when the club wasn't poppin'. I'm longing for the days

when the DJ at T-town or Max's (or Chocolate Town or Jamaica Jamaica for y'all older cats) would play DJ DMD's

"25 Lighters," then Keke's "Pimp tha Pen," followed by "3 in da Mornin'," Fat Pat's "Don't Knock My Hustle," "Superstar,"

"Tops Drop," and last but not least, he'd play "June 27th," and when Youngstar's verse would come in, drop the beat, and

the whole club would rap his verse line for line.
